About Modo
Our mission
Modo trains your instinct for real Spanish. Not by drilling rules into your memory, but by giving you enough real sentences in real contexts that the language starts to feel obvious. The subjunctive stops being a rule and starts being a feeling. That's the whole thing.
Why Modo exists
Every Spanish learner hits the same wall around B1. You can hold a basic conversation, you understand the grammar tables, but the moment a native speaker drops a subjunctive or shifts between ser and estar, you freeze. Not because you don't know the rules. Because rules and instinct are different muscles.
Most language apps stop being useful right at that point. They're built for beginners and they keep you in beginner-shaped exercises long after you've outgrown them. Modo picks up exactly there.
Modo started as a focused Spanish subjunctive trainer. As learners worked through it, one thing kept coming back: I wish this existed for everything else too. So we rebuilt it. Modo today teaches the moods, tenses, sentence patterns and vocabulary that turn textbook Spanish into real Spanish, all in short, adaptive sessions.
How Modo teaches
Four ideas run through every session:
- Modular learning. Pick your focus. The Spanish subjunctive, past tenses, ser vs estar, real-world vocabulary, each module stands on its own and stacks with the others.
- Real sentence patterns. You learn the shapes Spanish actually takes, not isolated words. One mastered structure unlocks dozens of sentences.
- Adaptive sessions.Modo watches what you nail and what wobbles, then quietly reshapes tomorrow's session. No two practice loops are identical.
- Living vocabulary.Words show up in context, get retested in new sentences, and stick because you've used them, not because you flipped a card.
About Pino
Pino is Modo's mascot. A small pink character with big eyes and a calm temperament. He keeps you company through your sessions without demanding the spotlight. Modo's tone is steady: helpful when you show up, friendly when you come back.
Who builds Modo
Modo is built by a small team that learned Spanish the hard way. We hit the same intermediate plateau most learners hit, got tired of apps that talk down to us, and started building what we wished existed. We ship slowly, test with real users, and listen.
